Live streaming — how it works

This is the feature that uses Google account sign-in and the YouTube Data API. Everything happens on the user's own channel, started by the user.

1

Sign in with Google

The user signs in with their own Google account and grants NV Editor permission to manage live broadcasts on their YouTube channel.

2

Set up the broadcast

Inside the app the user enters the stream title and description, uploads a thumbnail, and chooses the privacy setting — Public, Unlisted or Private.

3

App creates the broadcast

NV Editor creates the live broadcast on the user's own channel through the YouTube Data API and receives the RTMP URL and stream key for it.

4

Go live

The app streams the news bulletin — with templates, L-bands and tickers applied live — straight to that YouTube channel.

The user never has to copy a stream key manually from YouTube Studio — the app requests it for the broadcast the user just created.

How NV Editor uses your Google account data

Full disclosure of the permission we request, what it is used for, and what we never do with it.

NV Editor requests one Google permission

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.force-ssl

This permission is used for one purpose only — to create and manage a live stream on the YouTube channel of the signed-in user. Specifically, the app:

  • creates a live broadcast and a live stream on the user's own YouTube channel;
  • sets the broadcast title and description entered by the user in the app;
  • uploads the thumbnail image the user selects for that broadcast;
  • sets the broadcast privacy status the user selects — Public, Unlisted or Private;
  • retrieves the RTMP ingestion URL and stream key so the app can send video to that broadcast;
  • starts and stops that live broadcast when the user taps Go Live / End Stream.

NV Editor does not read, download or delete the user's existing YouTube videos, comments, ratings or captions. It does not post anything unless the user starts it. No YouTube data is sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.

OAuth tokens are stored encrypted on the user's own device and on our secure server only for the duration of an active stream session. The user can disconnect the app at any time from Google Account permissions, or email info@techdevrit.com to have all stored data deleted within 30 days.

NV Editor's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. By using this feature you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
